i guess ill confirm it... this is true. jon is officially off USD as of Jan 1st and will be bringing rolling a new boot company next year with help from roces. i think this will be sick, roces has such high-quality manufacturing capabilities. im sending him some drawings of various boot ideas, perhaps i will be able to help in some way.

i highly doubt the new boot will include an independent backslide plate, as Razors owns almost exclusive rights to replaceable/seperate backslide plates. Jon's company would have to pay royalties to Razors (if they even allowed them to license it), which would drive the cost of the boots up significantly. but, remember, Roces has experience with double-injection (nylon and PU in the same part, ala Graal backslide area), so you may still see a good, controllable backslide area without a seperate plate.

there was also a point brought up by someone about large rolling corporations (Salomon, Roces) hiring recognised rolling names (coburn, latimer, julio) and starting up small "independent" skate companies. bcs they know if they released the mooks under salomon and not Xsjados - the "i must only support skater owned companies" kids will reject them.

but hell - so long as they bring out good products - it shouldnt be that big a deal.
