wow - well done on the detective work boy! the park design looks great, though not really mind blowing. but of course ive learned to not judge a skatepark based on '3d' or 'artist renditions', so lets just tunggu dan lihat. but i do like the rationale and thought that went behind the park. that whole "letting the building age naturally' thing sounds like a nice thing, which... means that the park will be up (and maintained) for a long time (we hope).

The Convic Park if used would have put Malaysia on the world map (Mecca) of skating.
The current park may look the same but is it the same?
Look at the size!

the 2 park i've post above as match is the same la..look at te A section bowl and B..same thing as the A & B of the other design...look at the E vert thing..same thing..it just that the first one looks big and the 3d image from this zlddesign is a bit small..don't judge by the 3d image....maybe they resize it..MAYBE! Yup this might happen if they wanna save budget..but the park design still the same to me..the shape of the park also the same...maybe the size je la...MAYBE! Just liek SUkeats said earlier..don't judge by the 3d or image..just wait when it's done...
also the 1st design more detail the 2nd one just like "CUKUP SYARAT" only...

dah baco dah..tgk aku ada post kat situ... Baca sini : challengepark.wordpress.com/sini L zlg.blogs.com/weblog/2006/12/skate_park_cent.htmlclick here the park is part fo the project list : www.tss.net.my/projects.htmAku dah call zlgdesign at : 03-2171-2248 Spoke with Lynette person in charge of the park... Menurut mereka park yg Challenge park tu bukan under KBS or design by Convic. It was design by them (or maybe they paid pa'din for the design and said it was theirs.. i don't know). The location is at Putrajaya section 20 and it's owned by Putrajaya (I think PPJ or Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd). So what was mentioned on the KBS skatepark in Putrajaya maybe a different kinda of thing...ada dgr rumours yg park di putrajaya tak jadi buat sebab mereka kata no point buat coz sapa nak dtg..jauh.. but after spoke with ZLG spoke person..they said the challenge park projects is on and the site is on construction. They have no idea when is the compeletion... In KL, skate plaza. It would be our dream... but where... is there any land to build one? Is the land in KL city cheap? Will the government spend lotsa money for skaters to build a plaza where they can't gain any profits from building it??? Let's just pray la.. Senang citer dulu zaman kami mana ada skatepark..totally street!!!

yeah we all know and i think i have post it at page 2... but that was written on the net but this is what i get direct from the person in-charge today (call at 5.30pm date 30th July 2007)..they ain't sure yet maybe end of 2008 or maybe 2009... just look at the Shah Alam construction board. They said completion on February 2007 but then untill today also have not completed yet... Challenge Park was conceived for a long time to serve the younger community at Putrajaya, the new capital city of Malaysia. The two facilities, comprising the Wall Climbing centre and the Skate park, together with the Dirt Bike Trail, and many other Xtreme-Games has been under construction for two years now, and should soon be seeing the completion of the superstructure phases later this year, slated to complete in late 2008. Never intended to be anything but a truly sustainable building with low-energy systems and technology applied for the ventilation requirements and support facilities.
The materials used are naturally expressed, and columns are of the thinnest sections and the roof constructed of the most basic lightweight metal decking systems. No apparent decorative painting has been required for any of the exposed structures, and low maintenance finishes appear throughout the scheme so that with time we see no need for any major refinishing in the near future. Finishes can take a lot of punishment and wear and tear, as is expected from a building of this nature, programmatically designed to engage human physical intervention and contact. In a sense, the building is expected to rapidly age with time and weather and use to look as if it was there for a very long time.
The architectural language embraced within a strong and disciplined artistic direction supports the view that all columns of varying lengths and girths should be as if they were tree trunks, floor slabs sail above the ground, walls seemingly carved out of the landscape, and ramps and stairs resemble mere folds off the surrounding terrain.taken from : challengepark.wordpress.com/ (can check the clay model, site progress, 3d model, etc) or : zlg.blogs.com/weblog/2006/12/skate_park_cent.htmlIf they are not the same park we talked about then this might be the one that Convic proposed..

the park is completed already..and so was the indoor rock climbing .... then later Tim Altic went to the park and saw many defects and wrongly done by the previous contractor which i presume a local contractor who did the park without any consult from any park designer....so Tim told the management and he got the project and offcourse they won't redo the park again...Tim only touch up here and there and add up few things here and there..the park is almost finish and will be ready to used by September....pic soon from skatemalaysia.com
