After 8 years of business Skatepile.com has decided to close the doors. I'm sure rumors are going to start flying and I'm hoping to nip it in the bud. I'd also like to ask that before anyone posts negative comments about Tom or myself that you take into consideration that we are people. The only thing we can say is that we love the sport and all of the skaters. Without you Skatepile would not have achieved all it did. Y'all stay strong. The sport isn't going anywhere, and it's not dying. We are a strong community and the more we support each other the faster our community will grow. Get your friends to try it. Get your girlfriends to give it a shot. Buy a spare pair of skates to share with friends. (Fury skates are only $80 and they are a great basic skate for people to try out.) Donate your old skates to someone who could really use them. Try not to keep 5 or 6 pairs of skates laying around not getting used. Y'all rock! I'm so blessed to have met and become friends with so many of you. Thanks!
All in all we had a lot of great successes. Hopefully Skatepile, Tom and myself will leave a positive lasting impression on you all. Thanks for all the good times. We hope to see as many of you as possible at Super Hick this year.
Holler at me if you have any questions or comments: erin@skatepile.com

nope - not over. as seen on skatepile.com
Skatepile.com was founded in 1999. After skating Pro and designing skates for K2 I decided I was ready to venture into a new realm of the skate industry. Retail, especially the .com arena, was somewhere I felt I could contribute to the sport I love in a whole new way. I gathered a couple of my good friends, Andy Kruse and Frankie Loscavio, and my wife Erin, and together we created an innovative and cutting edge company, Skatepile.com.
After 8 years of running all aspects of Skatepile.com, it is now time to get back to how I best contribute to the skate industry; product design and marketing. My first love is skating. I’ve skated for over 16 years and my love for the sport has only grown. Being a skater has helped me design some really cool products and develop good marketing for these products. Many of you have enjoyed the projects I have worked on over the years. A few notable products are: The Fatty, Style Points Bob, King 55, Face wheels and Fiziks frames. My background in marketing and being a skater have also contributed to my ability to find new amateur skaters and help them follow their dreams to be come a pro skater. A dream that thousands of other skaters share, and one that I was fortunate enough to attain. Without real skater involvement in rolling, the sport would not live on.
As of June 1st, Skatepile.com has partnered with Roller Warehouse. Of course the owners of Skatepile.com knew this was a big move, but after many weeks of mulling it over we decided for many reasons that this was the best move for Skatepile.com and what we can continue do for the sport. I have been doing my usual thing checking out the message boards and such. I’m happy that most of you understand that we are still Skatepile.com, and we will continue to support you. Of course a few of you have posted that you think this is a sell-out move, or a way for Roller Warehouse to gain “street-cred”, but it’s way beyond those misconceptions.
I decided this would be a better way for me to impact rollerblading in a positive manner. Before the partnership I was spending most of my time packing boxes and sitting behind a desk in a warehouse. Now RW takes care of that stuff. We have a lot of new inventory, extended hours, low-price guarantees and a whole lot more. The new partnership allows me to focus on helping grow the sport again.
I handle marketing for Skatepile.com, as you will see on our site. Email me about skate products, sponsorship, or anything a skater might want to know from another experienced skater.
When you buy from Skatepile.com, you are supporting our team riders, our tours, our demos, our skate competitions and more. Your support allows amazing events like Superhick to live on and grow into even bigger and better events. Buy your skate products from us and we will continue to give back to the skate community like no other shop does. I plan on hosting two major contests in 2008. We want to do October-Sesh in October of 08 ; a whole new event in a new location with great people, great skating and great vibes. My time spent as a marketing director for Skatepile also allows me time to skate and be a part of local amazing skate camps, such as the one in Roswell, Georgia. You may have heard of a few of our previous campers….. Julian Bah and David Sizemore. Ring a bell? Those dudes learned the basics at Skatepile camps. You may even run into me and the team riders at Woodward or Lake Owen camps this summer. We’ll also be rolling around the country skating at various skate parks. Be sure to check this Blog frequently to see where we will be next!
With my new free time I have also started an amazing relationship with one of the premier skate companies in rolling. Stay tuned for more information on that! This is just the beginning. Please email me and let me know if you have any questions… I am a skater that is here for you. I bleed rolling and have been for 16 years now. With all due respect, Thank you to everyone that has supported me and my endeavors over the years!
Sincerely,
Tom Hyser
