Hey Guys,
A newbie here. I'm looking forward to start rollerblading.
The thing is, I have no idea what to look for.
I'm looking more into recreational rollerblading.
If possible, I would like to get a blades which can do recreational and aggressive/freestyle together (who knows I might be interested in it in the future), so that I don't have to buy twice.
I'm a size 11. And Budget around 500 to 600. If there's lower, the better.
So I need advice on buying a decent pair of rollerblade. Preferbly the full setup. And also place I can get them, preferbly around KL or Subang.
Basically, I'm looking for a good and affordable (my budget) pair of rollers for purposes mentioned above.
And ya, does brands count? coz, kinda like solomon for the design.
Thanx alot. Looking forward for replies. Thnx!

glad to hear there are still people out there interested in rollerblading.
tryin to get a recreational/aggressive/freestyle skate might be a little trick in my opinion. not really sure if you can get those here. the closest would be Salomon FSK freestyle skates (not even sure if salomon is still around or if they still make those).
if you're sorta lookin at a future in aggressive skating. its probably a good idea to get an entry model aggressive skate (USD Grycon = RM500+ or K2 Fatty UFS = RM600+ google em for more info/pics).
you can pick up a pair of USD Grycons from Cool Element in Bukit Bintang Plaza (www.ce-skateshop.com). They're having a sale now, so its a good time to get em.
Alternatively, you can check out Skateline (www.skateline.com.my). they have a pretty health selection of recreational and hockey skates. might be a few aggressive skates (K2 & Rollerblade) left on stock. best you check with them on that.
you can also check out second hand skates - depending on condition and sizing availability you might be able to start skating with a RM200 investment.
and yes, a branded pair of skates as opposed to those you'll find at Carrefour or Giant is always a better bet. a crappy pair of skates makes for a really unenjoyable experience.
good luck

Thanx sukeats for the reply.
Well I have a few questions,
The aggresive/freestyle skates comes without brakes as I "googled".
How is it possible for me to brake?
A friend mentioned about a cheaper (around RM180-350) skates in places like studio R.
Is there any difference in terms of quality or specs compare the ones selling in pro skate shops?

well - after a while you'll get the hand of skating without brakes. there are a few moves out there that can help you stop without a brake.
as for skates - well yea - you can get the scorpion skates at Studio R. wouldnt really recommend them though. best bet: go to skateline first - check out the skates. see if theres any you like within your budget. if not - get the scorpions.. i just saw em just now in one utama. doesnt look all that good. but should help you get started.

Thanx for the tips and advice.
Appreciate it. I saw on youtube on several videos which shows how to brake using different technique. I got the picture.
As for the skates, I'll go for the more worthy ones such as USD grycons or the K2 like sukeats mentioned.
I rather invest once, within my budget and get a proper skate so that I wont get disspointed.
I'll give it a shot at skateline. If there's anymore details or info that I should know, do inform me about it.
Most probably I'll buy it in September. Hopefully they will still have their sale. ;D

4 wheels a.k.a flat rocker setup: -all 4 wheels have the same size -easier to turn -faster -in other words, flat rock is a very nimble setup -smaller grinding space 2 wheels+ 2 grind rocks/anti rocker/grind wheels a.k.a anti rocker setup: -2 normal wheels on the outside of the frame (front and rear) -2 smaller sized, harder, wheels. which are called grind wheels/anti rocker wheels/grind rocks in the inside slots of the frame. -harder to turn/control -slower compared to flat rocker -HUGE grinding space -(just an additive, anti rocker are more stable for grinds on ledges-through my experience lah) 2 wheels a.k.a freestyle setup: -only 2 same sized wheels -usually ppl use freestyle frames (e.g:mooks frame) which doesnt have any slots for 2 middle wheels. -surely u can pull out 2 inner wheels from ur normal frame, but u'll have to chage ur from evey 1 month then. -same nimbleness as anti rocker setup -BIGGER then HUGE grinding space anybody else who uses othe setup can speak out their opinion. p/s: nickorr lost one of his balls....hehehe (inline crash course on: frame setups)
