For those who haven't heard :
Recently officials of ESPN have tried contacting the new Minister of Youth and Sports to renew the contract for Malaysia to host the Asia X-Games beginning next year.
Apparently they were told to wait for a couple of hours, one and a half to be exact and later told they could not meet the Minister.
So that leaves the X-Games in limbo.
Adding to this woes is Toyota have pulled the plug to sponsor the Asian X-Tour.
So the likelihood of the X-Tours are also in jeopady.
The next host could be Qatar or China.
However X-Games love the Malaysian crowds and the strong supports from Malaysian athletics.
In view of this I believe they are trying to find private sponsors to get involved so the games stay in Malaysia.
But this depend on them finding enough sponsors.
However if they can't them the games would probably move overseas.
The good thing is if you are picked to represent Malaysia, then you are in for a treat as you will be sent overseas for the first time.

2004 Asian X-Tour and 2005 Asian X-Games are affected. Not those before.
Remember this is already close to the end of the year did you hear any X-Tour fixtures yet.
Remember we have a new sport minister.

well we all know where this debate will lead to. within the industry, the major players don't give a rats ass about xgames. that is why there is the imyta. because we are selling out to the mass consumers some might say. back buring the philips x (rush and rage), we all know philips were in to promote their products. so is toyota, MAS, adidas, ESPN sports channel. it's big business bucks. so when it's not profitable anymore, they pack and leave. so boys and girls, that is what ESPN came, did and left. but no point to cry about it. build your own then. street is where it came from and should stay.
oh yeah, if someone is going to bitch about it, i beg you not to. lets not fucking dwell and move on aites.
one love.

X-Tour and X-Games are two different things altogether.
X-Tour are selecting players in each country and X-Games are the main event where all the countries come in.
When Toyota pull the plug X-Tour is gone.
However if Malaysia pull the plug on X-Games the X-Games will be gone in Malaysia unless private sponsors come in, this is what the organiser is trying to do now to look for private sponsorships so the X-Games can still stay in Malaysia.
However if no private sponsorships is found the X-Games will move to either Qatar or China.
So the X-Games is still on except that it will not be held in Malaysia but in either Qatar or China.
As Tong rightly pointed out the X-Tour is definitely gone.
Note : Althought it is true that the sponsors have sometimes make use of skaters to get publicity for their products but it is also true these sponsors sometimes do help to bring up the scenes because as Tong have pointed they are the ones supplying the cash and keep the scenes going.
It is also true skaters should keep true to the streets where the skate origins.

Bala you have my votes : At least someone from KJROLLERS have the guts to say it out and say it out now! It is time skaters take control, charting the directions of rollerblading and deciding what is good for rollerbladers, for themselves and not always have to take the crabs from "someone" else.
Why skaters need to get involved?
ESAM which is the Extreme Sports Association of Malaysia get its funds from the Ministry of Youth and Sports which is meant for the development of extreme sports in Malaysia (Skateboard, Rollerblade, Bicycle and Speed Climbing/Bouldering).
So basically a quarter of the funds is meant for rollerbladers to utilise to develop their sports.
But at the moment rollerbladers representions inside ESAM is not strong so other people inside ESAM decide what is good for rollerbladers but not the rollerbladers deciding for themselves.
For all your informations the funds that is given out to ESAM is not actually the government money. They are actually money that belong to everyone of us from the taxes paid by your dads and from that of your moms and also the taxes that you paid when you drink coffee at Starbucks or Coffee Beans or from the car that you sent to the garage for repairs and so on and so on as you paid service taxes.
So when you utilise the funds from ESAM you are actually utilising your own money.
You can claim this money by forming an association, an effective one which have a president, a vice president, a secretary and various committees (An exact duplicates of what KJROLLERS committees are).
So when your association is affiliated with ESAM they will let you have this money to develop your sports.
A good example is the Speed Climbing and Bouldering association which operate independent of ESAM but get the fundings from the
When your association have become strong then you can with ESAM organise competitions or X-Tour nationwide.
Then all the state bodies will want to join forces with your association as affiliates.
By which time your association will become strong and can request more money to finances its activities.
When committee members are sent overseas for training as judges then your association becomes the official aggressive skate sanctioning body in Malaysia by which all state will have to report to you.
Do this for your own sacks!
If you don't the money meant for you will actually be used in your own words "line someone's pockets with investments" or somesone might just use it to out a couple of CRVs.

Bala : I know you! You are the coolest dude in the whole world.
I am retired from the rollerblading world it used to be just the few of us.
Now you all are a lot and it is your time your world.
And it's time you take over your world and make it better for yourself for everyone.
But I tried to write and contribute if that is okay with you guys.
Most of the time I am out of the country in Australia but I try to monitor what is happening in Malaysia and once in a while I am here.
I see a great future with rollerblading because they are so well organised, doing their own website and putting up its own contest, selling their own tee-shirts to rise funds and even have their own VCDs.
For your infos other extreme sports can't measure half of what you all have done. And that is an honest opinion.
Bala : Ask ESAM how the rollerbladers can get involved and you will be surprise by the responses.
They may not have that much funds this year but next year you can go with them.
I mean the nationwide S4S (S4S X-Tour).
There are actually rollerbladers in each and every states and all of them can help.
With the fundings from ESAM and your KJROLLERS organising skills I am sure you will not have a problems.
I can only speak I cannot help much but ESAM should be the person you should be talking with not me.
And who knows rollerblading will explode in Malaysia all because people like you care to take up the challenges.
I am sorry sometimes I think I talk too much.
I apologise.
