ad sales are the only form of income to keep a magazine going. look at cosmopolitan, FHM, vogue, GQ, klue and any publication out there and 40% are covered by ad sales.
in the case of revolution, look at the ads in there are i strongly feel they are still attacking the right market audience. celcom wants a piece of the teenager market against hotlink. where to better put your ads when it's the right audience reading.
everything in the world is about a big cycle. espn pushes their air space to companies who wants to be hip and extreme. Philips is still sponsoring "extreme sports' events and what do they really do for the industry you may ask. the answer simply money and publicity pumped into the sport will bring more awareness to the general audience who somehow will pick up a pair of skates or in more general get involved in "extreme sports". on top of that, the word Philips is maybe broadcasted to hundreds of countries.
if anyone wants to keep it real, then you will be riding minimal. you will not be buying a pair of mambo t-shirt ever because you will not be supporting your own industry. screw buying a pair ipath shoe even if YOU think it's the hot shit.
there is nothing wrong in educating your readers. i pick up new music from magazine and why shouldnt they be given a chance to do the same. beside the whole 'extreme sport" is supposedly to be an art and culture than a sport.
if only we all took ourselves less seriously and be happier and simpler, everyone would have less white hairs. maybe i take myself too lightly as well but who really cares about me and what I think isn't it; therefore sometimes ignorance makes things less complicated.

This mag is boycotted by skaters and skateboarding companies but is defended by rollerbladers strange?
Everything that is done in there is to line the pocket pure and simple.
If you must know 100% of the foreign skate news are downloaded from the internet not actual coverages. I can even pinpoint to you where he get those news.
Local coverage only one percent as the editor don't do field trip just sit in office waiting for money to fall from the sky.
So that is supposed to be a skate magazine for skaters.
Of course a mag need ads to survive don't get me wrong. Which mag don't.
But to rip-off skaters using stories from the internet or asking skaters for pictures to print in mag but don't really write yourself is ripping skaters money to the core.
There are many many other strange things that is happening with this mag that I wouldn't want to reveal here as it would take a year or two to write them all suffice to say the above reason should be sufficient for now.
Look at Kjrollers they organise their own competition, do their own news writeout and publish them on their own website for the whole world to see.
They do not ask somebody else to do their donkey jobs or download some news from the internet and claim credits for them.
Wei Yang if there is anyone who deserve praises and supports from you is the cool people at Kjrollers. People like Sukeats, George, Bala,Santjit, Ian and not forgetting yourself.
Not only do they deserve support from all rollerbladers for putting up such marvellous events and writing true news about them but best of all they are available free to everyone that cares to read them.

lets zoom out for a minute - the only reason we, aw hell - lets be honest here - - - the article was MY opinion, and does not necessarily reflects the view of the entire rolling community. anyway - i digress - the only reason they have my support is - they were one of the FIRST to show locals that "yes, we can do it, if we have faith and are willing to put balls on the line". corny as it sounds - that is after all what "Malaysia Boleh" is all about. and in one way or another - it has influenced/encouraged the KJROLLERS' movement. of course - it pisses me off that they rip off articles, and are terribly inconsistent, and for one issue there - ACTUALLY put The Punisher on the cover. but hell - - - i guess - i appreciate what they've done...not what their doing. _____________________ Ian is the little monkey we keep in a cage behind me house that ACTUALLY does all the updating of the website. he also did most of the editing on "This Video Is _____". Watch out for the Swinging Monkey's S4S edit - - coming up soon! Ian says "Hi! Watch my edit!"
